Two long-dormant Bitcoin holders have recently transferred substantial amounts of BTC, awakening from over a decade of inactivity.
According to Whale Alert, an ancient Bitcoin wallet suddenly moved 1,004 BTC valued at $56.92 million after being dormant for 10.6 years. The on-chain data revealed that the BTC was first transferred to an unknown wallet before being moved to another wallet of undisclosed origin, where the Bitcoin stash now resides.
Bitinfocharts data indicates that the investor spent more than $1.132 million to amass the BTC hoard between 2013 and 2014 when Bitcoin was trading below $800. This move resulted in gains exceeding 4,920% after holding the assets for a decade.
Additionally, another ancient Bitcoin holder shifted 20 BTC worth $1.41 million after more than 11 years of dormancy. The entity first transferred the BTC to an unknown wallet before eventually moving the Bitcoin to another undisclosed wallet.
Bitinfocharts data further shows that this investor spent $1,676 to accumulate the Bitcoin stack in July 2013 when BTC was trading around $80, resulting in gains of nearly 68,000% after 11 years of dormancy.
Notably, none of the Bitcoin holdings were sent to known crypto exchange addresses, suggesting they were not intended for sale in the open market.
As of the latest update, Bitcoin is trading at $57,700, reflecting a more than 2% increase over the past day.
