Ethereum Creator Accesses 1.268 Million STRK Valued at $470,000
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has recently unlocked 1.268 million STRK tokens, valued at $470,000. This move, which took place at 13:15 UTC+8, represents a significant addition to Buterin’s STRK holdings. Following this transaction, Buterin’s total STRK holdings now exceed 2 million tokens, with an estimated value of $781,000. This makes STRK the most valuable asset in Buterin’s investment portfolio outside of Ethereum, underscoring his early support for the Starknet project as an investor.
The crypto community has been closely monitoring Buterin’s activities, particularly his recent token unlock. Prior to this event, various tokens, including OMKAM, PIKA, ETH, DIMO, and POKT, were transferred among different wallets interacting with Buterin’s addresses. Notably, wallet names such as “OpenSea User,” “bogged.eth,” and “pikaboss.eth” appeared frequently in these transactions.
In terms of Buterin’s overall portfolio, he currently holds 240,171 ETH, valued at $575.05 million, despite a recent dip in Ethereum’s price to $2,394.33. This price drop resulted in a $26.61 million decrease in the asset’s value. While STRK constitutes a smaller portion of Buterin’s portfolio, priced at $0.38, it has shown a modest price increase, adding $14.04K to its total value. On the other hand, holdings like 869,509 KNC (Kyber Network Crystal) have experienced a slight decline, with the token’s value dropping by $15.08K following a minor price decrease to $0.43.
Buterin’s Ethereum address has seen heightened activity in recent days, including the transfer of 800 ETH, worth $2.01 million, to a multi-signature wallet. Subsequently, 190 ETH were exchanged for 477,000 USDC. These transactions have fueled speculation within the crypto community regarding their purpose, with some questioning whether they signify charitable donations, internal reallocations, or other motives.
It is worth noting that Buterin has stated that he has not sold ETH for personal gain since 2018, with most of his ETH transactions being associated with philanthropic donations. In a recent instance, Buterin donated $530,000 worth of “Animal Coins” to charity in response to community requests after liquidating his holdings of “NEIRO on Ethereum” tokens.
In conclusion, Buterin’s recent crypto activities, including the STRK token unlock and various transfers, have generated interest and speculation within the crypto sphere. While his holdings and transactions continue to evolve, Buterin’s commitment to philanthropy remains a prominent aspect of his crypto involvement.
