Hong Kong’s ZA Bank is shaking things up by offering retail users the ability to trade Bitcoin and Ethereum using fiat currency directly through their bank account. The new service, which launched on 25 November, requires users to have a ZA Bank account and complete a risk assessment on the bank’s app.

This exciting development is a result of a partnership between ZA Bank and cryptocurrency exchange HashKey, designed to meet Hong Kong’s regulatory standards while bridging the gap between traditional banking and digital assets. Livio Weng, CEO of HashKey, highlighted the partnership’s role in driving growth in the Web3 ecosystem and expanding financial opportunities for users.

It’s important to note that retail crypto trading in Hong Kong only became available in August 2023, with three licensed exchanges operating under the Securities and Futures Commission. The regulator has hinted at the possibility of granting more licenses by the end of the year, signaling a promising future for the region’s digital asset sector.

Exciting times ahead for crypto enthusiasts in Hong Kong!
