Bitcoin Inventor Found in Contempt of Court Following Lawsuit Defeat
A computer scientist who made false claims to be the Bitcoin inventor faced a suspended prison term from a London judge post a lawsuit loss. The Cryptocurrency Open Patent Alliance sued Craig Wright after he asserted to be Satoshi Nakamoto and owning the Bitcoin whitepaper copyright. In court via video link, Wright received a 12-month suspended sentence for two years, and he did not disclose his exact location. The judge ruled earlier that Wright was not the Bitcoin inventor and imposed injunctions on him. Wright breached this order by filing a £900 billion UK claim related to Bitcoin intellectual property rights. Despite this, Wright showed no remorse or apologized for his actions according to his lawyer. The photograph shows the Bitcoin logo at a cryptocurrency exchange in Barcelona.
