Adobe’s Generative AI Integrates Bitcoin into Bird Photos

If you’ve ever found yourself frustrated with Adobe’s generative AI features in Lightroom and Photoshop, you’re not alone. These tools, meant to make editing tasks easier, have been causing more headaches than they solve lately. In fact, the latest blunder involves a seagull photo with a Bitcoin logo added in, which perfectly encapsulates the ongoing issues with the software.
Just last week, I struggled to use these tools to extend a background for a YouTube thumbnail, something that used to be a breeze. Instead, I had to resort to manual editing to get the job done. When I reached out to Adobe for an explanation, they pointed me to a blog post by Lightroom Queen, which advises selecting the entire object or person to avoid strange replacements by the AI. While this tip does help, it doesn’t always guarantee the desired results.
For instance, photographer Matthew Raifman recently shared a baffling outcome where the Generative Remove tool replaced a reflection with a Bitcoin logo. Despite trying to follow all the recommended steps, the software continues to produce unexpected and often hilarious results. It’s clear that the AI isn’t quite hitting the mark when it comes to understanding what editors need.
While Adobe is aware of these issues and is working to fix them, some users, including some of us here at PetaPixel, have stopped relying on these generative tools altogether. When AI is supposed to be the selling point of a software update, it should work reliably. Hopefully, Adobe can address these concerns and improve the functionality of these features moving forward.
