NCA officer faces charges for allegedly stealing £60000 in Bitcoin

An NCA operative has been accused of stealing nearly £60,000 worth of Bitcoin. Identified as Paul Chowles, a 42-year-old Bristol resident, he faces 15 charges associated with the alleged theft that occurred in 2017. According to a Merseyside Police representative, the cryptocurrency involved was approximately 50 Bitcoin.

On the legal front, Chowles is confronting 11 concealment, disguise, or conversion of criminal property allegations, three charges linked to acquiring, using, or possessing criminal property, and a single theft count. He is expected to attend Liverpool Magistrates’ Court in the coming weeks to address these accusations. Based on current estimations, 50 Bitcoin would be worth over £3 million.
